Q: With this film, you have been playing Thomas Anderson/Neo for over 20 years, albeit intermittently. What is special about it for you?

Keanu: Everything is special (laughs). That's why I can and want to continue playing him. His inquisitiveness to uncover The Truth, his strong connection with Trinity. I think it's really great to play these two qualities. Also, the themes and ideas of the script that make the most of the character, and of course, the extraordinary and wonderful worldview of "The matrix". Everything is special. As an actor, it's rare to come across a movie or character like this.

Q: I think this is a very important series in your career, how do you view it?

Keanu: As you say, The matrix has had a huge impact on me. It gave me the Being There to encounter many different works, and I was able to develop friendships with wonderful people, such as Lana, Carrie-Anne, and Laurence (Fishburne). As an artist, it's a great pleasure to be involved in a work that I truly believe in.

Q: "Selection" is an important element in this series. What was the most important choice in your life? What about your career?

Keanu: In life, I think it was when I decided to become an actor and left Toronto, Canada for Los Angeles. I was a teenager at the time, but I think it was a huge decision.

As for movies... I guess I'll just say "The matrix" since I'm being interviewed about it right now (laughs).

Q: Okay, last question. At the time of the previous series, SNS had not yet become widespread, but now it has become very popular. What do you think about SNS?

Keanu: There's also a scene in this film where everyone is obsessed with their smartphones, and I think that's Lana's observation on modern society. Maybe Lana is saying that we should consider this kind of society more.

As for me, I don't use any social media at all. I only use my smartphone for calling and Arrival(laughs).
