Unexpected confusion that arose in casting

Production chaos is common with major works. The most famous behind-the-scenes story behind the production of this film is that Sean Young, who starred in Blade Runner (1982), really wanted to play the role of Catwoman, so he dressed up as a cosplayer and rushed into Burton's office. However, Barton is away and the story becomes tangled when he mistakes the assistant who is away for Barton. Thinking she had been chased away, she appeared on a TV talk show dressed as Catwoman, complained of unfair treatment in Hollywood, and lashed out at Burton.

"It was an artistic choice," Burton said of casting Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. What particularly impressed Burton was the performance of his eyes. Catwoman's mask covers half of her face, and the eyes that peek through the holes in the mask sometimes say more than her dialogue. The suit Burton prepared for her was a patchwork but beautiful SM-style suit, similar to the costume of the main character in Edward Scissorhands . This is Burton's tribute to Pfeiffer.

The Penguin, on the other hand, is left to veteran actor Danny DeVito. There are not many actors who can portray the penguin, whose heart is covered in ugliness, with charm. The elements that make up his underground world include gangsters who used to be members of a circus, a flock of penguins, and even giant gadgets like toy ducks. These are all very pop, and when placed in Gotham's gothic worldview, they create a mysterious humor. The strangeness of the visuals...well, let's call it beauty...was also a highlight.
