Tim Burton decides to make a sequel
In my personal opinion, the sequel " Batman Returns " (1992) is by far the best movie compared to the first " Batman " (1989). In my previous article , I wrote that " Batman" is not a typical American comic book drama of good versus evil, but a battle between freaks, but in this movie, this is even more clear, becoming a story of madness and chaos.
First, as usual, let's review the story. A mysterious penguin is causing trouble in Gotham City as Christmas approaches. Meanwhile, a suspicious woman in a patchwork suit who calls herself Catwoman also appears. These monsters are both enemies of Batman, and collude together due to their shared interests. Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, has to deal with two enemies who threaten the peace of Gotham...
“Batman Returns” preview
The previous film, which cost $35 million to make, was a big budget Big for its time. It was a huge hit, grossing more than $400 million worldwide, and the sequel cost $80 million, more than double the cost of its predecessor.
Immediately after the first Batman film, Burton had no intention of making a sequel. This was because I was exhausted from directing my first major production. The larger the film, the more people have to say something about it, and the work doesn't always turn out the way the director envisioned. However, the circumstances surrounding Burton had changed from when the first film was made.
His follow-up to ``Batman'', `` Edward Scissorhands '' (1990), was also a hit, and he has now established a firm position in Hollywood as a hit maker that captures the hearts of the public. Therefore, he entrusted the script to Daniel Waters, who had created a crazy youth drama in `` Heathers' ' (1989), who not only directed but also produced, in order to have more freedom in filming a new Batman story. Decide.
