Screenwriter who shows off his authorship with buddy movies

Shane Black is a master of buddy movies. His fame came from the two films he wrote the screenplay for, `` Lethal Weapon '' (1987) and `` Lethal Weapon 2: The Promise of Fire '' (1989). Black is good at the light-hearted dialogue between the duo, which is the essence of ``buddy movies,'' and even in the ``Lethal Weapon'' series, he prepared comedy-like dialogue between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, making the work a hit.

After that, he continued to produce films such as ` `The Long Kiss Goodnight '' (1996) and the comedy ``Nice Guys!'' which paid homage to Birdie Movie. ” (16), and has expressed “Buddy” in various ways.

Of course, ``The Last Boy Scout'' can also be enjoyed with its clever interactions, but it focuses on the ``shadow'' side of humans, which is a bit different from ``buddy movies,'' which tend to have a generally cheerful atmosphere.

``The Last Boy Scout'' teams up Joe (Bruce Willis), a former Secret Service private investigator, and Jimmy (Damon Wayans), a former football player who retired from gambling. Jimmy's girlfriend Cory (played by a pre-breakout Halle Berry) is shot and killed by someone, and the two unexpectedly become partners as they pursue the truth behind the incident.

Detective Joe is married, but his relationship with his wife is terrible, and even his daughter hates him. Jimmy is a failed football player who dabbles in drugs. What haunts these two is a feeling of self-denial. Jimmy often murmurs the line, "Life is shit..."

In fact, this setting was largely influenced by screenwriter Shane Black's psychology at the time.
