"Skyfall" (12)

Celebrate special moments with The Macallan's 50-year-old wine

Director: Sam Mendes Cast: Daniel Craig

Open a special whiskey for your anniversary. When it comes to the anniversary after decades of this, you want to open up a special item. Such a special whiskey appears in `` Skyfall '', the 23rd movie in the 007 series.

It was Raul Silva, a former MI6 Double O Section agent, who stole the list of NATO spies and blew up MI6 headquarters. James Bond, also known as 007, chases him, but ends up being captured. With the entire island in ruins, Silva offers Bond some whiskey.

"It's a 50-year-old Macallan. I know you're a particular favorite whisky. Now, what shall we toast to? Shall we toast to the woman we love?"

"Skyfall" was released in 2012. This work is the 50th anniversary year of the first 007 series, ` `007 Dr. No,' ' which was released in the UK in 1962. To commemorate the occasion, Silva is offering a ``50 Year Old (?)'' from the official bottle of ``The Macallan 1962 Fine & Rare Collection.''

``The Macallan'' uses barrels in which sherry is aged to give it a unique texture and sweetness, while also having the elegant richness characteristic of single malt. Speyside, located in the Highlands region of northern Scotland, has a climate suitable for refining whisky, and there are many distilleries, including the Macallan distillery, which produces some of the highest quality products, also known as the ``Rolls Royce of single malt.''

It is still in circulation as a current product, but even a 30-year-old product can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it seems that it is exchanged like a stock certificate. So, if it's a 50-year-old item...

Although ``50 Year Old'' from ``The Macallan'' does exist, whiskey that has been aged in barrels for a full 50 years loses its wood color and becomes a dark brown with no transparency. However, the ``50-year-old items'' that appear in the movie are not that dark-colored, and are probably only 25 to 30 years old at most.

Let's look back at the characteristics of the work ``Skyfall.'' As mentioned above, this film is a commemorative work for the 50th anniversary of the 007 series, and director Sam Mendes confessed in the software's audio commentary that he paid homage to past 007 series.

The representative example is, of course, the Aston Martin DB5 that appeared in `` 007 Goldfinger '' (64), which even has the same license plate as ``BMT216A.'' Also, the action scene in Macau, which takes place in silhouette against a neon background, can be considered a live version of the title sequence. If you pay attention to the lines, famous quotes from past works are listed like a quick-click quiz.

Considering his style, which seems to be a reward for fans, Silva, who mistakenly believes that the age on a whiskey label is the same as the age of aging, is an ``enemy who doesn't know anything about alcohol,'' and is said to be a `` 007 From Russia with Love' ' character. This is an homage to Red Grant, a strong assassin who pairs red wine with fish dishes in ``Te " (63).

Is it too much to think about this?
